Development of dihexa followed from studies on angiotensin IV analogs and their effects on learning and memory. Researchers sought compounds with improved metabolic stability and brain penetration compared with natural peptides. In preclinical reports, dihexa was associated with changes in synaptic connectivity and performance on spatial tasks. These findings generated interest in its potential as a cognitive research tool. The work remains largely preclinical, and independent replication has been limited.
Regulatory and commercial contexts differ from clinical medicine. Dihexa is not approved as a drug by major agencies, and no published human trials establish its safety or efficacy. It is often sold as a research chemical labeled for laboratory use only. Suppliers may provide certificates of analysis, but purity and identity depend on the specific batch. Legal status varies by country and may treat such compounds as unapproved substances for human consumption.
Lyophilized dihexa is typically stored as a dry powder at or below minus twenty degrees Celsius. Cooler temperatures slow degradation, and desiccant protection limits moisture uptake. Repeated temperature cycling can accelerate breakdown, so aliquoting before storage is common in laboratory practice. Solutions are generally less stable than dry powder and are often kept cold, protected from light, and used within a defined period. Specific stability data for dihexa are limited, and handling recommendations often follow general peptide guidelines rather than compound-specific studies.
Identity and purity are usually assessed with reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. These methods can separate related impurities and confirm molecular mass, but they do not by themselves establish biological activity. Certificate of analysis documents may report purity as a percentage by area, yet the exact meaning can vary between laboratories. Independent testing can check for residual solvents, counterions, or microbial contamination when relevant. For research use, matching analytical records to a specific lot helps trace experimental variability.
Dihexa occupies an uncertain regulatory space in many countries. It is not generally listed as an approved therapeutic, and some jurisdictions may treat it as a research chemical, a compounded substance, or an unapproved new drug depending on claims and distribution. Importation can be restricted, and suppliers may require documentation that the material is for laboratory research only. Quality and labeling vary, so buyers should request analytical data, verify lot numbers, and understand local rules. These factors make sourcing and compliance part of the practical context around dihexa.

Dihexa is a synthetic peptide that has been examined in laboratory and animal research. Its design is based on angiotensin IV, a naturally occurring peptide fragment produced in the body. The short name dihexa appears in scientific papers and online discussions, while the full chemical name describes a modified peptide chain. It is not a vitamin, mineral, or plant-derived compound. Suppliers typically present it as a research chemical rather than an approved medicine.
The full name often given is N-hexanoic-Tyr-Ile-(6)-aminohexanoic amide. This name indicates a chain containing tyrosine, isoleucine, and a six-carbon amino acid derivative. Databases list a CAS Registry Number and a molecular formula for the compound. The peptide is small compared with proteins, and its structure allows it to be studied in cell cultures and animal models. Exact identity depends on the supplier's synthesis and purification process. Minor impurities can remain after synthesis.
Chemically, dihexa belongs to a broader group of angiotensin IV analogs. Researchers have modified the natural peptide to alter stability, binding, or distribution. Such changes can affect how the molecule behaves in experiments. The parent peptide angiotensin IV is involved in various physiological processes, but the modified analog is not identical to it. Public summaries sometimes blur the distinction between the natural fragment and the synthetic research compound. This distinction matters when interpreting study results.
The angiotensin IV connection places dihexa in a family of short peptides studied for effects on central nervous system signaling. Angiotensin IV itself is a metabolite of angiotensin II, and analogs have been explored in cardiovascular and neurological research. Dihexa differs from the natural peptide through structural modifications intended to alter stability and receptor interactions. Published descriptions sometimes call it a hepatocyte growth factor mimetic, although that label reflects proposed activity rather than a confirmed clinical mechanism.
Identity checks for dihexa usually rely on mass spectrometry and chromatographic purity analysis. A lyophilized powder is the common supplied form, and it may appear as a white to off-white solid. Aqueous solubility is limited, so laboratory work often uses an organic solvent such as dimethyl sulfoxide to prepare stock solutions. Because the peptide is not a standard pharmaceutical product, exact specifications can vary between suppliers. Certificates of analysis may accompany a batch, but they are not equivalent to regulatory approval.
=== Dry matter losses and yield === During the processing of soybeans to make tempeh there are inevitable losses of material due to the removal of the hulls and the leaching of soluble compounds during the soaking, washing and cooking stages. Hulls constitute about 8% of the dry beans and losses due to the leaching of soluble compounds equate to 12 - 17% of the dry beans. The oligosaccharides, stachyose, raffinose and sucrose, can constitute up to 50% of the soluble materials lost. During the fermentation there is some further loss of material due to respiration by the mold and the oxidation of compounds to carbon dioxide and water. Reported losses of dry matter during the fermentation range from 2.1 to 10%. Hence, the overall yield of tempeh is in the range of 72-78 g tempeh per 100 g soybeans on a dry matter basis. In practical terms, this means that 100 g dry soybeans (7-9% moisture content) will yield about 170 to 210 g fresh tempeh (61-64% moisture content).
This new configuration of these belief systems is referred by Goulart as tradição religiosa ayahuasqueira urbana amazônica ("urban-amazonian ayahuasqueiro religious tradition") or campo ayahuasqueiro brasileiro ("brazilian ayahuasqueiro field") by Labate, emerging as three main structured religions, the Santo Daime and Barquinha, in Rio Branco and the União do Vegetal (UDV) in Porto Velho, three denominations that, notwithstanding shared characteristics besides ayahuasca utilization, have several particularities regarding its practices, conceptions and processes building social legitimacy and relationships with Brazilian government, media, science and other society stances. Since the latter half of twentieth century, the ayahuasca religious expanded to other parts of Brazil and several countries in the world, notably in the West.
== AFL career == Pears was drafted by Essendon with pick 23 in the 2007 national draft and debuted in 2008. He played the role of a key position defender in his second season, taking on big dominant forwards such as Daniel Bradshaw, Jarryd Roughead and Justin Koschitzke. After playing on Brendan Fevola in round 13, 2009, he was the round nominee for the Rising Star. Off-season surgery on a foot fracture that set back his return to senior football saw Pears’ bad run with injury continue in 2011. He played his first game of the year against North Melbourne in round 13, but saw his season further stifled with injury after breaking his lower leg and then straining his hamstring in the elimination final. Injury continued to force him to sit on the sidelines in the years after, managing 23 games in the next four seasons. Then on 12 January 2016 Pears was named as one of 34 past and present Essendon players found guilty over their use of illegal supplements during the 2012 AFL season. As a result, Pears was suspended for two years, which, as a result of backdating, saw him suspended between January and November 2016, which meant he missed the entire 2016 AFL season. He did not return to the AFL after his suspension, announcing his retirement from the league on 8 September 2016 to pursue a career in firefighting.

Purple bacteria have "chromatophores", which are reaction centers found in invaginations of the cell membrane. Green sulfur bacteria have chlorosomes, which are photosynthetic antenna complexes found bonded to cell membranes. Cyanobacteria have internal thylakoid membranes for light-dependent photosynthesis; studies have revealed that the cell membrane and the thylakoid membranes are not continuous with each other. Advances in synthetic biology have enabled the construction of artificial bacterial organelles that are more reminiscent to eukaryotic ones, including structures formed through liquid-liquid phase separation of "RNA organelle" reported in 2017. These RNA systems termed TEARS is capable of regulating compartmentalize cellular processes, scaffolding and sequestering metabolic pathways. These synthetic organelles can be repurposed as their eukaryotic counterparts, to isolate purify proteins within prokaryotes, enabling a technology termed PandaPure for chromatography-free purification.
== History == Natural enzymes catalyze chemical reactions with high selectivity and efficiency. Catalysis occurs in the enzyme's active site, where substrates bind near functional groups, enabling proximity effects. Artificial enzymes mimic this by combining substrate-binding sites (e.g., cyclodextrins, crown ethers, or calixarenes) with catalytic groups in small molecules. Advances include artificial enzymes based on amino acids or peptides, such as scaffolded histidine residues mimicking metalloproteins like hemocyanin, tyrosinase, and catechol oxidase. Computational design using tools like Rosetta has enabled de novo creation of artificial enzymes. In 2014, enzymes were created from non-natural molecules. A 2016 book chapter discussed future directions in artificial enzymes.
Opportunistic bands of Normans successfully established a foothold in southern Italy. Probably as the result of returning pilgrims' stories, the Normans entered southern Italy as warriors in 1017 at the latest. In 999, according to Amatus of Montecassino, Norman pilgrims returning from Jerusalem called in at the port of Salerno when a Muslim attack occurred. The Normans fought so valiantly that Prince Guaimar III begged them to stay, but they refused and instead offered to tell others back home of the Prince's request. William of Apulia tells that, in 1016, Norman pilgrims to the shrine of the Archangel Michael at Monte Gargano were met by Melus of Bari, a Lombard nobleman and rebel, who persuaded them to return with more warriors to help throw off the Byzantine rule, which they did. The two most prominent Norman families to arrive in the Mediterranean were descendants of Tancred of Hauteville and the Drengot family. A group of Normans with at least five brothers from the Drengot family fought the Byzantines in Apulia under the command of Melus of Bari. Between 1016 and 1024, in a fragmented political context, the County of Ariano was founded by another group of Norman knights headed by Gilbert Buatère and hired by Melus of Bari. Defeated at Cannae, Melus of Bari escaped to Bamberg, Germany, where he died in 1022. The county, which replaced the pre-existing chamberlainship, is considered to be the first political body established by the Normans in the south of Italy.

Dihexa is a synthetic peptidomimetic related to angiotensin IV. It is studied in preclinical research for effects on synaptic signaling and cognition. It is not an approved medication.
No major drug regulatory agency has approved dihexa for human use. Published human clinical trials are absent, so its safety and efficacy are not established. It is commonly sold for laboratory research only.
It was developed from research on angiotensin IV analogs and peptide stability. The goal was to find compounds with better brain penetration and metabolic resistance. Early studies used rodent models rather than human participants.
The lyophilized powder is commonly kept at -20 °C or lower, protected from moisture and light. Solutions may require colder storage and should avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. General peptide stability practices apply.
